As with many of our creations, this indulgent herbal infusion holds a story near and dear to our hearts. The Be True Botanical Massage Oil received it namesake from the Vermont Be True Yoga Festival, an incredible sliding scale yoga and healing arts event hosted right here in the Green Mountain State.  We first created this oil to offer custom CBD chair massage to event attendees, and it was so well-received that we knew it had to be a forever offering. This oil is a culmination of community, ritual, and deep reverence for body and land.

In honor of the origins of this formula, 10% of all proceeds are donated to Vermont Be True, a non-profit that offers sliding scale and scholarship services to low-income individuals for yoga, holistic healing, mental health/addiction counseling, retreats, and the Vermont Be True Yoga Festival.

    • Calendula (Calendula officinalis): These sunny, resinous blossoms are widely known for the skin-soothing properties that are helpful for all skin types (and ages!). With inflammation-reducing, vulnerary, and antimicrobial effects, calendula is lovely for any skin irritation, wounds, and stagnated lymph. The flower essence is indicated for promoting empathetic communication and the free flow of artistic expression.

Rose (Rosa canina): A floral nervine euphoriant that is well indicated for energetic and emotional imbalances. Rose offers itself as a powerful ally for softening and opening the heart, while also helping us to create healthy relational boundaries. Rose has a long tradition for grief and anxiety support, and is also a powerful astringent and anti-aging agent making it a common ingredient in skincare formulas.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia):  Lavender is a relaxant nervine whose floral notes are well sought after in aromatherapy. It can be supportive to those with disrupted sleep associated with grief and stuck energy.  Lavender essential oil, which is rich in the monoterpene linalool, has traditionally been used for releiving physical tension in the head and neck. According to Nicolas Culpeper (1616-1654), lavender is ruled by Virgo and is associated with earth and beauty.

Patchouli (Pogostemon patchouli)Classically thought of as an aroma of the hippie-laden 60's, Patchouli offers an enveloping comfort into any aromatherapy blend. It has an affinity for the skin, and may be useful for skin irritations, rashes, and may help regulate the skin's own oil production. The rich musky undertones are somewhat aphrodesiac and offer a grounded sense of being.

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)Clary Sage has often been mis-gendered as a "women's herb", yet this diffusive, herbaceous essential oil is a delightful aromatic ally for all bodies. Some have found it helpful for modulating PMS and hot flashes, but it also truly shines as a support for nervous energy and emotional swings. The bright and intense aroma helps promote emotional tranquility while softening experiences of anger and panic.

Tulsi (Ocimum africanum):  Tulsi's intoxicating aroma is a sensual experience for both humans and pollinators.  Upon inhalation, the essential oil may aid with nervousness. Many find it to be a stress reducer without being too sedative. Some sources indicate that, similar to other basils, Tulsi may enhance clarity of thought and aid memory retention. In Indian traditions, Tulsi is celebrated as protective plant ally and is planted around doorways and in courtyards to banish evil spirits.

    • Sunflower Seed Oil: We proudly source this non-comodogenic oil from domestic family farm in the Midwest that uses strictly organic practices. Rich in essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid and oleic acid, sunflower seed oil has been studied for its efficacy in preserving skin integrity and improving hydration. Linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid, has specifically been observed for its role in improved the skin's own keratinization and lipid synthesis processes, which may promote skin repair.  Excellent for all skin types.

Jojoba Oil: This luxurious organic "oil" is born from the seeds of Simmondsia chinensis. a desert-hardy fruit-bearing shrub native to the Southwest and Northern Mexico. The seeds are mechanically pressed to yield a richly golden polyunsaturated liquid wax containing essential fatty acids, esters, and vitamins E and B. Jojoba first became popular for human cosmetic uses because of its chemical similarities to less-sustainable rendered Sperm Whale lard, which was historically used for skincare until the 1970s. With a chemical structure similar to the skin's own sebum and phospholipid bilayer, jojoba is excellent for skin protection, moisturizing, and may promote transdermal transport of other therapuetic plant constituents. With its antioxidant, emollient, and anti-aging properties, jojoba is ideal for sensitive skin conditions and long-term maintenence of our largest organ.

Apricot Kernel Oil: Often thought of as an alternative to traditional tree nut oils, apricot kernel oil is naturally rich in vitamins E and K and essential fatty acids such as stearic, palmitic, linoleic, oleic, and palmitoleic acids. Highly moisturizing to the skin and hair follicles, apricot kernel oil can be helpful for ezcema, rosacea, scarring and stretch marks, and brittle hair.  We proudly source this kosher certified, non-GMO, USA-grown oil from domestic purveyors.
